Surface designer and painter, Karla Pruitt, lives in the eclectic college town of Athens, Georgia, and works in her home studio illustrating repeat patterns for both home and apparel. Having grown up in Merritt Island, Florida, she harbors slight obsessions with bright pinks, a slower pace of life, and the retro floral fabrics her great grandmother sold in her 1960's Miami upholstery shop.
In her most joyful moments, Karla is drinking hot coffee on an autumn afternoon with her husband Joseph, weaving her way through the forest with her corgi pups Okie and Tallulah, teaching sunday school with friends to hilarious second graders, losing terribly at croquet, and painting all the pretty things she can find.
Karla's work is influenced, in part, by residing in a little green bungalow in her beloved Normal Town neighborhood. Walking to Bishop Park for the Farmers Market and to Ike and Jane's for coffee on the weekends, living in Athens is all about appreciating the old and embracing the new. A modern Southern kind of people live in her artsy town, and her wallpaper collection grew out of the idea of what happens when classic meets modern, just like in Athens.
