In much of the country—and especially here in Minneapolis—January was brutally cold. While we won't be sad to say goodbye to the polar vortex, it did give us the perfect excuse to stay indoors and curl up with lots of pattern-filled eye candy. At the very top of our favorite pattern moments list is anytime wallpaper and animals share the spotlight, like this amazing photo of Cat's Meow (Gray) with the one-and-only @bobo_and_fern. Purrfect!
Other than cats, January's Instagram favorites were all about the bathroom (one of the very best places to wallpaper, in our humble opinion). This Peonies (Yellow) powder room from @amandamineo was our Insta tribe's favorite post of the month, and for good reason—these are just the happy springtime vibes we need in the icy depths of winter!
The next bathroom that our followers loved gave us a taste of the tropics in the middle of this arctic weather with a bold half wall of Nana (Pink) paired with just the right amount of brass. Thanks @willscasa!
We never tire of bright and bold powder rooms, and this Otomi (Turquoise)-bedecked beauty in @angelatafoya's home is no exception. We love how the pattern and color pop off all that classic white tile.
Interior design, like fashion, is cyclical—everything old is new again—and this retro pink bathroom from @designinrareform proves the point with a punch. Here, modern Rosa (Indigo) provides a striking foil to the vintage-inspired tile.
A relative newcomer to the Hygge & West scene, we're drooling over how charming Piedmont (Pine) looks in this teeny powder room. Great choice, @susanroxborough!
No bathroom wallpaper conversation would be complete without Mermaids. This graphic bathroom from @mollygriggsinteriors features one of our favorite patterns—Mermaids (Red Coral)—with a classic color combo we can't get enough of—blue and red. Bonus points for the extra pop of pattern in the bottom drawers!
In December, H&W celebrated the arrival of a new team member—copywriter @melissasueandersen's new baby girl, Siena! Last month, we shared an interview with Melissa and a look at her Otomi (Taupe) nursery—a sweet and subtle pattern that will grow beautifully with baby.
More exciting team news: @christiana_hyggeandwest was featured on @mydomaine in January, where she chatted all about her life-altering career change from lawyer to wallpaper lady (and author)! Her Diamante (Gold) space looked magazine-worthy in the interview—click here to read the full feature and see what other parts of her home made the cut.
Lastly, we're wrapping up January's best of Instagram roundup with this bright and fresh laundry room from @mgdesignsaustin. From its crisp color palette to its Strawberries (White) walls, this lovely space has us anxiously awaiting spring's arrival.
