Holiday Cocktails + Pattern: Peppermint Patty

Tula

The holidays are officially here and we're getting hygge the best way we know how - by toasting the season with our team's favorite seasonal cocktails! Of course, no Hygge & West celebration would be complete without a heavy pour of pattern, so we've paired our festive spirits with the perfect complementary wallpapers. What could be jollier than that?!

PEPPERMINT PATTY

From the kitchen of: Melissa Andersen

I make this hygge-in-a-mug cocktail as often as possible during the colder months, from the first frost of the season until the final thaw. It's easy enough to quickly whip up for a casual date night at home, and yet special enough for a large gathering of holiday revelers. The best part is that it can be as simple or complex as you'd like by either making your own hot chocolate from scratch or swapping in your go-to prepared cocoa mix.

INGREDIENTS

1.5 oz. Peppermint Schnapps
1 cup hot chocolate
1 candy cane
whipped cream and chocolate shavings for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

To make, just add a jigger (1.5 oz) of Peppermint Schnapps to a cup of your favorite hot chocolate (either homemade or a mix). Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a candy cane or peppermint stick for stirring. Christmas carols optional, but encouraged.

To me, the holidays are all about layering up in my favorite flannels and sweaters and gathering around a roaring fire with friends and family. Whether it's an outdoor fire pit or a cozy indoor fireplace we're huddled in front of, a steaming Peppermint Patty is guaranteed to warm us up inside and out. Along with Wood wallpaper in holiday-ready gold, this festive pairing is the perfect backdrop to all of my log cabin Christmas dreams.

The holiday season is hands-down my favorite time of year. From the festive lights and decorations, to the embrace of all things hygge, to the general merriment and good cheer hanging in the air, Christmas is truly special time. But the best part of it all is gathering my big, loud, over-the-top-in-all-the-best-ways Italian family under one roof. There's never a shortage of tradition, food, drink, laughter, and of course, love!
