Bedding + 3: For a Playful and Dreamy Bedroom in NYC

August 01, 2018

Arabesque (Navy) Bedding + Pombal (Navy/Sky) | Hygge & West

I've just started working on some design plans for a little apartment in NYC (hereafter known as H&W east coast headquarters). Words can't express how excited I am about this situation, as I plan to spend as much time there as I possibly can. And, yes, also because this means new walls to paper! So far, I've nailed down four key elements. Our Arabesque (Navy) Bedding + 1) Pombal (Navy/Sky) wallpaper, 2) this beautiful spindle bed from Rejuvenation and 3) a showstopping ceramic Dreamweaver from MQuan Studio.

The bedding was a no brainer, so of course I brought it with me for Day 1.

We finally got a mattress during the 2nd trip back, and I think it's going to look just perfect. We're going to do a very light coat of plaster over the brick and then paint it white. Add in said bed frame. Done! :)

I wanted to do Pombal in the bedroom. But after thinking about it more, here's where I landed: STATEMENT STAIRS. When all the walls are painted white, these are really going to pop. Even Joe is on board, so consider this project a go!

I was lucky enough to visit MQuan Studio during my last trip there. It's so fascinating to see all the steps that go into creating such beautiful, handmade products.

It makes me appreciate them even more. And I cannot wait to get my very own Dreamweaver for the apartment. It's going to look stunning above the bed. Stay tuned...

Wallpaper + 3: Cooking with Nethercote

June 28, 2018

Wallpaper +3 | Nethercote (Blue) | Classic Kitchen Design

There's something about this pattern than not only make a great book cover (yay!) but works perfectly in the kitchen. I'd play upon this pattern's traditional feel with a 1) pop of pink; 2) classic dutch oven; and 3) vintage butcher block table.

Nana (Jungle) + 3

Nana (Jungle) + 3

Getting excited to put up some Nana (Jungle) in my kitchen! I have the 2) Fornasetti plates covered, but if I had a bigger space, I would definitely be bringing in 1) an amazing chandelier and 3) this Ferm Living plant box!

Wallpaper + 3: Otomi Breakfast Nook

Wallpaper + 3: Otomi Breakfast Nook

I've been wishing that we had a little breakfast nook in our house lately - somewhere sunny where we could sit and have coffee in the mornings while reading the paper. Of course, in reality, our mornings consist of rushing around, packing lunches, trying to figure out if the dogs have been fed and looking for shoes, backpacks and/or jackets before the bus comes... But in an ideal world, our mornings would be calm, and we'd enjoy a space with the following:

Otomi (Red) wallpaper. 1) This gold pendant lamp is ever so slightly feminine. I think I could get away with it in a house full of boys. 2) Clear chairs let the wallpaper shine even more. 3) And I love the lines of this table.

Wallpaper + 3: Super Sunny Sunroom

Wallpaper + 3: Super Sunny Sunroom

One of our friends is buying a house right near us, so I went over yesterday to see it and talk about all the little projects she wants to do once they're moved in and settled. So fun! They have the most fantastic sunroom off their living room - currently it's rocking a bit of a 70s/ladies who lunch vibe (and lime green wallpaper!), but I think with the above, it could get a fresh, modern update and still retain that proper sunroom charm...

Pineapples (Yellow) wallpaper, of course. 1) I love this capiz shell pendant light - it's got just a bit of shimmer and feels slightly feminine. 2) Christiana has this side table and it's to die for. 3) Aren't these vintage rattan chairs stunners?

Wallpaper + 3: Andanza (Green)

Wallpaper + 3: Andanza (Green)

We spent our first weekend at our new cabin and I'm itching to get it all decorated! I also promised the hubs to adhere to a strict budget, but in a budgetless world here's what I'd do with the downstairs guest room...

1. I've been obsessed with this chair forever - and finally have a place to put it! 2. Can you have too many IKEA sheepskins? I think we both know the answer to that question. 3. Loving the clean lines of this bed, and navy + green is one of my favorite color combos.

Wallpaper +3: Pineapples (Blue)

I'm feeling like I need more Pineapples in my life. Since my bathroom is the only spot in my apartment with a couple blank walls, it only makes sense to go full Pineapple force in there. I'd like to combine it with:

1. an amazing cabinet (okay, yeah, this probably won't happen) | 2. a cute catch all basket (arriving in November)  | 3. my Ferm Living marble shower curtain (done)
