How Team H&W Styles The Everyday Throw

Everyday Throw Fawn blanket | Faribault Woolen Mill Co. | Hygge & West

Cozy season is here, and there's no better way to signal its arrival than with the warmest wool blanket we ever did see. To celebrate the launch of our brand new Everyday Throw, created in collaboration with iconic Faribault Woolen Mill Co., we're sharing how our H&W team members style their cozy for the cold season ahead.

CHRISTIANA COOP

How did you style your Everyday Throw?
I paired my Everyday Throw (Fawn) with Bloom (Taupe) bedding and some colorful throw pillows on the guest bed. The multicolor fringe works well with the rainbow of color accents happening throughout the room and the Fawn color is such a beautiful, warm neutral, which is actually a nice, calming element among all the pattern. My guest room is a hodgepodge of pattern and color, but it couldn’t be cozier!

How do you feel about the shorter days and darker evenings?
It’s a shock to the system at first, but I do love having extra sunshine in the morning. Both my dog and I are morning creatures and wake up with the sun, so we can get our walk in (or just some quiet reading with coffee) before the work day starts. The whole getting dark before 5:00 pm business is hard to spin positively, but I am looking forward to long, cozy evenings in front of the fireplace.

What are your hygge essentials for the colder months?
Thick wool socks, fluffy slippers, red wine, candlelight, and yes, Everyday Throws!

AIMEE LAGOS

How did you style your Everyday Throw?
We’ve had this chair for over 20 years now and I just love it. In fact, we’ve loved it to pieces and it has a couple holes, so we always strategically place a throw blanket over it. The soft, wool blanket in the Fog color looks warm and cozy, and I love that it’s predominantly a neutral gray, but there are little pops of color and interest to keep it from becoming boring. This corner is just beckoning you to come sit and read. That is if you can get Wade to move—he thinks it’s his chair!

How do you feel about the shorter days and darker evenings?
Fall daylight savings is like a holiday to me. An extra hour of sleep? Yes, please! But, living as far north as I do, the time change can be tough. The short days can get a little depressing, so we try to make them extra cozy to combat the winter blues. I get in bed earlier, which is a plus, and it usually marks when everyone is done with soccer for the season, so we have more time together as a family in the evening.

What are your hygge essentials for the colder months?
Nothing is better than snuggling up with a warm blanket (like our Everyday Throw!), a glass of wine, and a good book. Our friend Stephanie Housley of Coral & Tusk turned us on to these socks when we visited her in Wyoming while shooting our book, and I am never not wearing them in the winter. I’ve also recently discovered this tea, and I drink it all day long in an effort to stay both warm and hydrated.

OLA SUPERNAT

How did you style your Everyday Throw?
The Everyday Throw (Ivory) will live on our bed—it came just in time for the colder months! I am pairing it with Bloom (Taupe) bedding for a double dose of cozy prettiness. Our kitten, General Blue, is a fan, too!

How do you feel about the shorter days and darker evenings?
As a kid, I loved falling back. Well, I loved sleeping in, so getting that extra hour for even just one day seemed like the best thing ever. As an adult, I can’t seem to sleep in anymore, and my routine stays pretty much the same throughout the year (except that I never want to leave the house once it gets dark, so I suppose I become less social in winter months). As much as I don’t like it getting dark so early, I associate early evenings with the holiday season, which I love. On the flip side, hopefully my 6:00 am workout classes will become more manageable with a tad more light.

What are your hygge essentials for the colder months?
I get cozy by curling up on a couch surrounded by lots of pillows and a blanket with a hot drink and a magazine or book. And I anticipate that this winter, General Blue will be my main partner in hygge.

MELISSA ANDERSEN

How did you style your Everyday Throw?
Although the Everyday Throw in Indigo can go literally in any room of my home (I love how easily it matches everything!), I decided to keep it close at hand next to my bed. I love to sleep in an icy cold room all year long, but sometimes that means I need a little something extra to keep my toes toasty. This cozy blanket is the perfect addition to the bedroom—it feels great when it's in use, and looks great when it's not!

How do you feel about the shorter days and darker evenings?
I enjoy regaining the morning light for my early walks with my daughter, Siena, and my dog, Molly, but the early evening darkness can be super hard for me to adjust to. However, I do love that the darker nights signal the start of the holiday season (the best time of the year!), and so I try to take advantage by using the cold darkness as an excuse to stay inside and watch Christmas movies (yes, even in November!).

What are your hygge essentials for the colder months?
There's nothing more hygge to me than gathering my whole family (my husband as well as my human and fur babies alike!) on the couch, all snuggled up together under a warm blanket in front of a roaring fire with lots of flickering candles. What more could you ever need?
